Beautiful Astrology:
I love this term! I’ve been hearing it repeated in the astrological community as we discuss what’s happening in June, starting this week.
Some astrology is like the weather. You check in the morning to see what you should wear or if you might need an umbrella. Other astrology is BIG picture—I’m talking about major generational influences, shifts in the collective will, and attitudes that define decades.
As I prepare to launch my book after five years of work, I’ve been paying attention to the astrology. I want to be prepared for challenges and ready to act on good luck.
For example, there are several astrological endings and new beginnings happening right now, which I can’t help but see as particularly relevant in my own life, both personally and professionally. Maybe you will, too.
On June 4, Venus (at the very end of Aries) makes a sextile with Jupiter (at the very end of Gemini). I think of this as “The Good Life Aspect.”
Believe it or not, one of the things I love about astrology is that there is a lot of math and geometry involved. (This will come as no surprise to those of you who know me well.) The planets are constantly moving, and it is when they align with each other in certain mathematical configurations that they work their magic and we take note.
This week, Venus, the planet of love, relationships, and appreciation, forms a favorable aspect with Jupiter, the planet of good luck and abundance. They are forming this special angle at the very end of two signs, a time to think about using what we’ve learned during their time in the old sign to complete old business.
Then it is time for new beginnings! On June 5, Venus enters Taurus, and on June 9, Jupiter enters Cancer—this is a BIG one!
What does this mean?
As for Venus exiting Aries, it is a time to consider how you might do things differently, especially in the area of relationships. One astrologer said, “It is a time to be brave in the face of rejection.” I got shivers when I heard this, as it holds particular resonance in my life right now.
If you have unfinished business in one of your relationships (Venus), today is a particularly good day to gather up your courage (Aries) and wrap up what you’ve known needs to be completed. Good luck is on your side.
Venus moving into Taurus: This is its home, the sign over which it rules. This is really nice energy which will last all month and will infuse your relationships with extra sweetness. This is a good time to be with friends and to engage in activities that bring you joy.
As for Jupiter leaving Gemini, we need to keep the faith that things will work out, even if we don’t see how in this moment. We want to wrap things up by thinking (Gemini) about how things might shift into expansion (Jupiter).
The more significant occurrence takes place on June 9, when Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion, enters Cancer, the sign of the nurturer, where it will reside for the next year.
What I mean by magic:
Yesterday, after I started writing this post, I opened my email, and there was a long note from my publicity team.
I had been feeling somewhat discouraged and frustrated by the process of trying to find my footing around promoting my book. Bookstores are less than receptive to a new, unknown author asking for time and attention in their store. Let’s just say the process has been less than encouraging. (With the exception of Book + Bottle in St. Pete. They are terrific!)
All this time, Venus has been in exile in the sign of Aries. The sign of the warrior is not conducive to the planet of love. Makes sense, right? And Jupiter has been in exile in Gemini. One way to use this more challenging energy is to think about how to do things differently, because the “normal” way doesn’t work so well when planets and the signs they inhabit are situated this way.
So, I decided to think outside the box and leverage the yoga community to promote the book. Obviously, this is not how authors normally do things. Also, my book is fiction. It is not a yoga book—there’s not even that much yoga in it.
Nevertheless, my yoga community is coming through for me big time. My sun sign is Aquarius, the sign of the collective, of one’s “tribe,” and my tribe is the yoga community. I should have known.
So, I open this email, and, as if to wrap up this frustrating period of my floundering, my PR team has listed 27 confirmed and pending media opportunities, including TIME!!!
(By the way, 27 = 9 in numerology—my favorite number symbolizing spiritual growth and evolution. Another good sign!)
Now that’s some BEAUTIFUL ASTROLOGY in action.
I will write more about the Jupiter transition at a later date, and in my upcoming gatherings, I will discuss the other big-picture shifts that are occurring RIGHT NOW and culminating (no, I did not plan this!) the day before my book comes out on July 8.
For now, just know that abundance, love, and beauty are aligning in the stars. Be open to how you might use this energy to nourish what and who you love, and consider how you might communicate and share this abundance with others.
That’s it for today. I have lots of interview questions to answer!! As always, thank you for being here! And remember,
Life is short. Read fast.

“Mills’s efficient prose sketches an entirely believable landscape in Cyd’s mind, roiling with confusion over the breakdown of her marriage and the shocking revelations about her family. Cyd’s mental state unfolds through intermittent flashbacks of marital ups and downs, her childhood, and the family secrets that drive the novel, all delivered with rich symbolism. Mills even uses an incoming hurricane as a token of the emotional storms brewing in Cyd’s life… Mills effectively examines the self-destructive thought patterns women often fall into in their quest for happiness… Readers will savor Cyd’s intense journey, rooting for her to navigate her trauma and emerge on the other side, ready to become a woman who ‘believed she would find her way.’”—Publishers Weekly BookLife
